Ever since I got engaged and decided to make my own engagement ring…(after all how can a guy buy a ring for a jewelry designer…talk about pressure)…I have been wanting to add an engagement line to Island Cowgirl.
I have created a lot of commissioned bespoke pieces for clients over the last few years but it has always been a dream to do a proper line where clients can see exactly the ring they were getting instead of only a sketch. Continue reading
Soooo…we have been thinking of doing a engagement ring line for quite some time…but our move to Nashville kind of interrupted that project.
We are finally settled…(as settled as we are going to be) and we have begun to play around with the new line… Continue reading

Happy 49th Anniversary to Sheila & Frank! This is my good friend Sheila…many of you know her as our Tuesday girl at our store. She is also Nigel’s honorary grandma and was the first employee ever at Island Cowgirl. Continue reading
One year ago I married my husband.
He is honest and valient. He has reverie & honor. He slays dragons. He is old fashioned. He always does the right thing…even when no one is looking. He is courageous and brave. Evertime I think I cannot love him more…I do.
Marrying him was, hands down, the smartest thing I ever did in my life. I could not have found a more perfect man for me if I had made him up myself. I am profoundly proud to be called his wife.
From our wedding vows that we wrote…
“Real love has absolutely no pride. It does not ever end or change and there is no language that speaks against it. You are everything I ever wanted and more than I deserve. Being loved by you gives me strength and loving you gives me courage. I will pass my days within the sound of your voice…and my nights within the reach of your hand and no one shall come between us…”
Almost everything in our wedding was DIY, vintage or recycled from flea markets. This wedding was a labor of love.
My mother-in-law made my wedding dress from Alencon Lace that I bought from Paris. She also hand stitched 400 vintage doilys together to make the table runners. We spent a year collecting the doilys from local flea markets. She also made the bunting running down the aile from vintage hankies. My husband gave her MVP of the wedding.
The back drop of our ceremony was vintage lace and hand dyed silk ribbon that my friend Hannah makes. Don’t even get me started on how many Alice in Wonderland giant Paper flowers were littered around our living room for a month…Nigel kept hiding his bones in them! And my bridesmaid, Kristen from Soul Soup hand painted our aisle runner which said “love is bigger”…I cherish that.
And yes, I did make my rings. It is a grey chameleon diamond set in 18k gold. Around the band it reads “ever after”. We also do anniversary bands and eternity rings. Feel free to email me and we can discuss!
Love, peace & horses…
This is my friend Katie. I met her years ago at the dog park. Our dogs grew old together…and over the years and through our early morning talks in our pajamas…we became friends.
Now you have to meet Katie to understand her wonderfully, wild spirit. Her laugh is contagious. She is crazy funny. And her smile lights up a room. She is fiercely loyal and eternally optimistic. Everyone loves Katie.
Katie & I have been through boyfriends, husbands, break ups, break downs and lost friendships. But she always held strong. She is one of the bravest souls I know. So when her roommate of 5 years and her boyfriend of 2 years simultaneously screwed her over both in the same week….she picked up & moved to San Diego. Ballsy. Her life was here. But off she went.
Well, Katie ended up meeting the love of her life by following her heart. And Katie is getting married to the man of her dreams.
Here is the ring I designed for her….A 2 carat, flawless emerald cut diamond set in platinum. A bit more contemporary than my normal designs…but she wanted something clean & simple. And Katie was getting what she wanted. She waited a long time for her prince charming and left a trail of frogs behind her…and she deserves only the best…
I cannot wait to dance at your wedding. I love you girl.
Love is timeless…and the rules don’t always apply to love.
A few weeks ago a customer contacted me and was over the moon. She had just got engaged a few days before and she wanted me to make her engagement ring. What an honor. There was one catch….she was getting married in 10 days in Hawaii. 10 days.
Now a few things went through my mind. Like…OMG. Impossible. Are you kidding? No way! How?
And then of course…I said yes. I knew how I fretted over my own ring. My own wedding. How I wanted everything to be perfect…How could I not at least give it a go? I couldn’t let her get married without a ring. Not on my watch.
I had been to the great Tucson show a few months ago in search of unique & wonderful stones. On my trip I found a 1 ct. heart shaped champagne diamond.
I had already gone wayyy over my budget on that trip and I had no business buying this diamond. None. I already had bought a bunch of diamonds and the coffers were full.
In fact I did not buy it. But I came back the next day and looked at it again. It was amazing. I had no plans for it…it was completely frivolous to buy this thing. It was very expensive. It was a gorgeous champagne color with a hint of pink. Very rare to find this. In fact I had never seen one like this before. I should not buy it. No way was I buying this thing. So I did.
Well. Sometimes things happens for a reason. I believe this diamond jumped out and found it’s way to me, talked me into buying it because it knew its way home was going to be through me.
And so…after several discussions, a few late nights and several prototypes later…and some divine intervention…we made this ring happen.
I hope that my client has the wedding of her dreams to the man of her dreams tomorrow.
As many of you know I got married in September at the Red Horse Barn in Huntington Beach, CA….and with Valentines Day coming up & all I thought I would share my wedding video with you. Now normally we all know wedding videos…on the whole…tend to be pretty cheesy. In fact I had pretty much written off the whole wedding video idea until 2 weeks before my wedding…I had searched & searched for someone who would do something without the cheese and came up pretty empty-handed.
Then I found Jordan from Etch Films. By accident. By some random link from a link from another website. As I clicked on one of his portfolio videos…I really just expected the usual. Boring. Bad lighting. Lots of cheese.
Four minutes later I had tears streaming down my face after watching a video of two complete strangers getting married in Hawaii.. It was that crazy beautiful. He made magic with moving pictures.
Then I panicked. I knew I wanted him to do my wedding…if at all possible. There were two problems…It was two weeks before my wedding and I was sure he was already booked. Number two…I was sure he didn’t live anywhere near us. I emailed him immediately anyway…and said a little prayer.
Well…the stars aligned. Not only was he available…but he lived about 2 miles from me here in California. I was beyond excited. And it takes me a lot to get that excited.
So here is the magic that Jordan wove for us. We thought it was brilliant & he captured it pretty much how it all went down. A big kudos & shout out to him…because he really is the bomb.
Our Engagement line which we are calling the “Ever After” series is in the house…Here is a sneak preview of an 18k yellow gold halo ring with a 1.5 ct Grey Chameleon diamond. Chameleon diamonds are very rare and change color with the light and also heat. This one goes from a smokey grey to a light green…super cool.
We have included our poetic words on each one…if you choose. This one says “ever after” around the band with a little heart on the bottom.
We are also doing a line of wedding bands, anniversary bands and eternity bands. You may choose from any quality of white or colored rose cut diamonds. Colors can include champagne, chocolate, cognac, greys & greens…( I love the colored ones! So different)
Rose cut diamonds originated in the 1500’s and were meant to resemble the petals of a rose. They are cut differently than today’s diamonds…they are flat on the bottom and have up to 32 facets on their rounded dome. I feel they give each ring a vintage, old world feel that best complements our rugged & romantic style.
Our rings can be hand made in 18k yellow, white or rose gold. Each and every ring will be a one of a kind and made to order.
So if you are engaged, getting engaged or are just looking for a special anniversary gift…let us know and we can help you make something special.
Love & Peace…
A sneak behind the scenes peek at our newest line called the “Ever After” series of engagement & bridal jewelry. This is a wax that I have been hard at work on…I carved & recarved the bezel to get it just right. The orange dots are going to be pave diamonds all around…and the band is etched with the words “ever after.”
This is the exact diamond this ring was carved for…It is a 1.5 ct. chameleon, rose cut diamond.
Chameleon diamonds are very, very rare…and I was so very lucky to have this fall into my lap unexpectedly. It came directly from India from a friend of a friend…and it is a rare beauty. Chameleon diamonds are usually a greyish-green hue but change color according to the light & also heat. They are highly coveted…and kind of like trying to find the Easter Bunny…You hear about them, but never really see them.
We are going to cast this setting in a 18K yellow gold…which will give it a rich buttery hue…and will bring out all the light in the diamond.
I am so excited to see the finished product…I can barely stand it.
Stay tuned for more goodies!
