diy overdyed rug

and then it was pink*

So…you learn a lot when you live on a farm. Not the least of which is that cream colored rugs have no business being anywhere in your life. Not with two horses and a dog. And mud. And hay. And dirty boots.
I was in love with this vintage rug that I got in Turkey…It was just the right amount of faded and vintage blue. For about 2 months. Then it slowly turned a brownish grey with dirt stains. And then it was pretty much done. I folded it up and replaced it with something more practical. Continue reading

…the pick of the week…

twistpeacemich The Twisted Peace Necklace!

The long chocolate leather cord makes this necklace the perfect piece for this fall season, because of how nicely it lays over scarves and chunky sweaters!

You can also layer this necklace with other shorter necklaces for more of a statement look.

horsesandfeathers1

This new line has been in the works for a while now and it’s so exciting to see all of the ideas come to life.

From a sketch book, to a wax mold to actual castings and assembly each detail was given personal attention.

Our leather word bracelets have always been a IC fan favorite so… what did we do?! We brought you more! New words of inspiration to love and stack!

And for our golden girls… we’ve had gold on our minds for a while and the timing was right for it to become a reality.

Introducing our newest baby cowgirl Abbot Kinney (Abbey for short)

She is such a little ball of fur. Nigel is still acclimating to having a baby hanging around the studio, but he seems to be warming up to the idea of having a new friend.

I mean look at that smile on his face he’s obviously enamored by her cuteness.

horsepuppy2

It’s our love of animals that serves for so much inspiration in the creative process here at Island Cowgirl. You look at a pair of furry, wet nosed angels like this and you cant help but think “fur is love” or have the phrase “unconditional love” come to mind.

Too precious. Especially with the 90 pound weight difference…. they are just the funniest pair. We’re all smiling ear to ear around here.

Heres hoping we could pass our smile on to you. XOXO

…in the studio…

studiocolo11 Say howdy to our little studio family, well most of it anyways…

This is a little peak at our behind the scenes of what we do here at Island Cowgirl… working hard and putting a little bit of love into every design.

We have such a wonderful & committed team, it is such a blessing to show up to this little creative home every week.

We get to see fluffy faces like this….

and this….

bonsandfood

However, you can count on a guilt trip from Miss Bonnie if you don’t plan on sharing your lunch! Who could say no to those eyes?

We are constantly in the building process in the studio, whether it be making the actual jewelry its self, shooting out emails, taking/making phone calls, photography, and of course playing sprinkler monster with Nigel.

Work for many people is simply a means to an end… or it just fills up the daily space. We are proud to say we love our work family and we will strive to maintain this awesome experience in the studio, just as we will continue to strive to bring you our version of cool boho jewelry.
